Child Care Resource Fair

The goal of our annual Child Care Resource Fair is to connect childcare providers with families who are eligible to receive childcare subsidies from the Missouri Division of Social Services, thereby enabling low-income families to access their services. Most of the providers are following through on commitments made as part of their participation in DSS programs administered by First Chance for Children to expand capacity and enhance quality.

This event is free and open to the public, focusing on families with children age birth to five. We provide a relaxed and family friendly environment where parents can ask questions and get some good leads on childcare for their children. This year’s event was held in September at the Columbia Activity and Recreation Center and included fun activities for the kids, along with refreshments, books, and prizes.

To assist both parents and caregivers, we also invite representatives from the Division of Social Services, Workforce Development, Daniel Boone Library, and Missouri Child Care Resource and Referral Network, and the Boone County Health Department’s WIC Program. In that way, parents are able to determine their eligibility for a state subsidy and begin the application process at the same time that they shop for childcare.
