Each year, First Chance for Children provides financial resources, technical support, and training to early education providers in the community to help them start up and expand state licensed child care programs. To learn more.
Accreditation Facilitation
First Chance for Children also administers a state program which provides assistance to child care programs that are beginning the process of becoming accredited or are preparing for reaccreditation. To learn more.
Early Reading First
In October 2006, First Chance for Children received a $3 million, 3-year Early Reading First grant from the United States Department of Education. Called “RURAL Excellence,” the program partnered First Chance with five mostly rural preschools in Boone and Randolph Counties. We trained the teachers and equipped the preschools to use the best available evidence-based methods of teaching language and literacy to at-risk children.To learn more
