Taking a newborn baby home from the hospital can be a scary process. This is especially true for a first child or if the family does not have baby supplies. First Chance for Children’s Baby Bag program provides families with the basic items they need to safely care for their newborn, as well as area resource information helpful to parents with young children.
First Chance for Children provides low-income mothers a canvas Baby Bag that contains books to read to the newborn, a baby safety kit, a health kit, a bath water thermometer, a sleeper, and pamphlets telling about local resources. The staff member who delivers the Baby Bag also connects families with appropriate community programs including
- Women, Infant & Children (WIC)
- Parents as Teachers +
- Daniel Boone Regional Libraries’ Play-as-Learning Bags / Playgroup Opportunities
